Loyalty in politics is said to be either blind or transitory, but when it comes to PCM, their faith in BN has been stoic for the past 14 years, despite not being a member party in the coalition per se

KUALA LUMPUR – Parti Cinta Malaysia (PCM) President, Datuk Huan Cheng Guan today announced the appointment of investor, entrepreneur and philanthropist, Datuk Asa Fan Wei Neng @ Abd Mateen Fan as the party’s Deputy Treasurer General, Deputy President of Federal Territory State and Bukit Bintang PCM Division Chairman

Speaking to mediahit today, Huan said that with this latest appointment, PCM is gearing to further enhance its positioning as one of the associate parties in the Barisan Nasional (BN) coalition, known as Friends of BN.

“With the coming State Polls (PRN 2023), as always, we will do our part to support BN in its campaigning in the six states that will have their polls expected to be held in July and August.

“We are aware this is a challenging time for BN as it is now part of the Unity Government (UG), partnering with Pakatan Harapan (PH), of which the latter has hardliner DAP as its component party member.

“As DAP is a party made up of Chinese and Indians, other BN component parties like MCA and MIC may be feeling sidelined. Malay-based Umno members are also upset with recent uncalled for statements from certain DAP leaders making it difficult for DAP to earn the full trust of the Malays,” added Huan.

PCM Supports Unity Government

The PCM President however said that the party is fully behind BN and UG in line with the royal call by the Yang Di Pertuan Agong (Agong) who had urged that two major parties should work together as all parties that contested in the GE 15 held last November did not win enough seats to form the government.

Meanwhile Asa, the party’s newly minted Deputy Treasurer General, thanked PCM for its trust in him and assured that he will carry out his responsibilities with full dedication.

“PCM is one party which I have always held in high esteem since they had stood solidly behind BN all these years and their love for the country and Malaysians is evident in the name itself (Love Malaysia Party),” said the 41-year old Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Fansons Berhad.

He is also the CEO of DMK Tre Sdn Bhd, which recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with YY Circle for a business expansion worth RM10 million.

Apart from that, Asa has also recently been appointed as CEO of NMH Media (M) Sdn Bhd, which owns this digital media portal, newmediahit.com as well as a former Chief Executive of Automobile Association Malaysia (AAM). Apart from Malaysia, he has business interests in Thailand and Cambodia.

In a filing with Bursa, Fansons said that Asa had more than 10 years of experience in financial management, investments, corporate finance, treasury and investment banking.

“He previously served as the Group CEO of DMK Group Of Companies from 2018 to 2021, where he played a pivotal role in the digital business transformation of DMK to increase members’ digital experience and improve operational efficiency,” Fansons wrote.

In addition to the above, one of Asa’s philanthropic moves was when he founded the Selangor Association for the Blind in 2020 and became its Group CEO. – mediahit
