KUALA LUMPUR — Bursa Malaysia was broadly lower at mid-afternoon today dragged by selling in selected heavyweights led by healthcare and financial services stocks. 

At 3.07 pm, the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) fell 14.33 points to 1,437.94 from Thursday’s (9 Nov) close of 1,452.27 after opening 1.71 points easier at 1,450.56.

On the broader market, decliners outpaced gainers 550 to 261 while 412 counters were unchanged, 1,151 untraded and 20 suspended.

Turnover stood at 2.39 billion units worth RM1.03 billion.

Among heavyweights, Maybank and Public Bank lost five sen each to RM9.07 and RM4.16, respectively, CIMB decreased four sen to RM5.74, Petronas Chemicals was two sen weaker at RM7.18 and Tenaga Nasional fell one sen to RM9.89.

Of the actives, Hong Seng and Ranhill added half-a-sen each to five sen and 95 sen, respectively, Leform gained one sen to 25.5 sen while Impiana went down 3.5 sen to 21.5 sen and Widad was flat at 45.5 sen.

On the index board, the FBM Emas Index was 90.46 points lower at 10,652.57, the FBMT 100 Index gave up 87.70 points to 10,316.87 and the FBM Emas Shariah Index trimmed 157.43 points to 10,788.44.  

The FBM 70 Index fell 54.58 points to 14,177.91 and the FBM ACE Index weakened 56.93 points to 5,102.30.

Sector-wise, the Industrial Products and Services Index shaved off 0.77 of a point to 172.35, the Energy Index contracted 3.96 points to 857.57, the Financial Services Index dwindled 85.18 points to 16,280.33 and the Plantation Index lessened by 1.20 points to 6,922.19. — Bernama
