PlayStation is set to launch the highly anticipated Access controller for PS5 globally, revolutionizing the gaming experience for players with disabilities. This groundbreaking controller, designed in collaboration with accessibility organizations and experts, aims to create a more inclusive gaming environment. Preorders for the Access controller will commence on July 21, allowing gamers worldwide to customize their gaming experience and immerse themselves in the joy of gaming.

Isabelle Tomatis, Vice President of Brand, Hardware and Peripherals at SIE, expressed her excitement about the controller’s release, stating, “For the past five years, we’ve been on a journey with accessibility organizations and experts to create a versatile controller kit that enables gamers with disabilities to play more comfortably and for longer periods, empowering more players to share in the joy of gaming.”

The Access Controller for PS5 offers a wide range of customizable features, allowing users to tailor the controller to their specific needs. With different buttons and stick caps available in various shapes and designs, players can personalize their layout. The controller’s 360° orientation feature ensures ease of use from any angle, while four industry-standard 3.5mm expansion ports allow compatibility with third-party accessibility accessories.

The PS5 console offers extensive settings to configure the Access controller according to individual requirements. Users can map buttons to create up to 30 control profiles, adjust stick settings, toggle commands on/off, and disable buttons to prevent accidental pressing. Additionally, gamers can pair up to two Access controllers and one DualSense wireless controller simultaneously, fostering collaborative gaming experiences.

The Access controller for PS5 boasts an impressive array of specifications and contents, including dimensions of approximately 141 x 39 x 191 mm and a weight of 322 grams (0.7 lbs.). The controller also features four 3.5mm industry-standard AUX ports, 19 button caps, 3 stick caps, and 23 swappable button cap tags for easy mapping of inputs. The package includes a 1.5m USB Type-C to Type-C cable, a quick start guide, and a safety guide to ensure a seamless setup process.

Preorders for the Access controller will be available starting July 21 at 10 am local time in the U.S., U.K., France, Germany, Belgium, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Italy, Spain, Austria, and Portugal.
